With so many things in flux within the church today, we feel it’s important that you know exactly what we believe. The following is a list of what we consider to be the most critical and unwavering truths of Christianity.
We believe that God exists. We believe in the one God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the creator of the world, the source of all life and the ultimate judge of all mankind.
We believe that God the Creator has given to each and every person the right and ability to decide their own fate, particularly with respect to their relationship with Him. While God is sovereign, He has chosen to limit the execution of His will in this regard.
We believe that everyone who has reached the state of moral accountability has, at some point, chosen to reject the right and do the wrong. These willful acts of disobedience creates for them a moral debt that must be paid.
We believe that because God is a moral judge He must punish those that chose sin and reject God’s instructions, whether explicit or implicit. Moreover we believe that man is unequipped to resolve this moral obligation by himself.
We believe that it has been God’s plan since before creation that if man should sin, God would provide a redeemer to restore mankind to a place of fellowship with his Creator.
We believe that it has been God’s desire, since the foundation of the world, that He should create a being, in His likeness and His image, with whom He could have cherished fellowship. Thus His greatest desire is that men love Him completely and unconditionally of their own free will.
We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the anointed Son of the living God, sent as a gift to mankind to provide a means of restoring the relationship between God and men. We believe that Jesus is the only begotten son of God, sinless, holy and without iniquity or moral blemish.
We believe that Jesus’ death on the cross was a substitutionary payment for the sins of all mankind, and that it alone provides true and complete forgiveness of sins. We believe that God prepared the sacrifice of His son out of the abundance of His grace and love for fallen man. We believe that this sacrifice is the only way to remove the sin barrier that separates us from God and that removing it allows fellowship between God and man to be restored.
We believe in the physical death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. While his death is an act of atonement for our sins, his resurrection is a demonstration of our potential to be raised from spiritual death into a new life, and ultimately our personal and physical resurrection from the dead.
We believe that while the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is sufficient to remove the sin debt of every man, it requires an act of repentance and confession be applied to the individual’s life. Awareness of these events is not enough; it must be accompanied by a heart-felt sense of contrition and submission.
We believe that the salvation provided by Jesus’ death is only acquired by faith; that believing in the power and authority of his sacrifice is what allows an individual to stand justified and righteous before God. No works, no rituals, no penance can act as a substitute for this faith.
We believe that once an individual accepts in faith the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit of God works in them to produce a new creation, one who eschews evil and hungers for fellowship with God.
